Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Amy Alysia grew up surrounded by music and a family centered in the church. She discovered her earliest musical influences by listening to different gospel artist such as the Winans, Commissioned, Andre Crouch and the Clark Sisters just to name a few. Although listening to secular music wasn't allowed in her household she would use school to hear other types of music that intrigued her. Amy Alysia was influenced by female vocalist such as Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Sade, Natalie Cole, Whitney Houston and Anita Baker. She also was a big fan of jazz, R&B, rock and roll and even some country music. By listening to a variety of music it has influenced and inspired the style of music that she performs today.
At the age 11, Amy Alysia began to take public school choir. By getting in the choir she was exposed to a whole new world of music. She was taught how to read the music that she sang. That furthered her desire to become a versatile singer. She absorbed all she could from her two mentors Earl Thompson and Roger Sears, from high school to college.
Vocalist Amy Alysia has been exciting crowds in Florida for years, offering a smooth mix of jazz, gospel, R&B, blues with some hard edged rock and roll. Whether it's Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker, Tina Turner, Bonnie Raitt or even a tune or two from Willie Nelson, she covers the full spectrum of popular music with a flavor that is uniquely hers.
Amy Alysia is hard at work to create a unique sound that pairs her flair for different genres of music. She won't give up until her dreams are fulfilled.
